SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Taiwan n-butanol (NBA) major Formosa Plastics Corp (FPC) has failed to restart its 250,000 tonne/year Mailiao-based facility after facing further technical difficulties, a company source said on Friday.

FPC on 15 February restarted the unit but was forced to shut the plant after technical issues emerged, the source said.

The company has not fixed a timeframe as to when it plans to restart the unit, the source added.

The NBA plant was initially shut from 6-29 December last year for a scheduled maintenance and security checks.

The shutdown was further extended until 20 January under government orders for additional checks.

FPC restarted its NBA unit on 21 January but was forced to reschedule a shut down for repair works several days later after discovering technical faults.
