SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Thailand’s PTT Global Chemical (PTTGC) has shut its 400,000 tonne/year I-4 No 2 ethane cracker at Map Ta Phut as scheduled for a planned maintenance turnaround on 18 February, a company source said on Monday.

The cracker is expected to resume operations on 29 March, the source said.

PTTGC had earlier postponed the turnaround for the cracker, which was initially scheduled to be shut on 4 February, because of an unplanned shutdown at another 1m tonne/year ethane cracker at the same site.

PTTGC was forced to shut the 1m tonne/year cracker on 31 January because of a power outage. The facility resumed operations on 13 February.

The company also runs another 460,000 tonne/year I-1 cracker and a 515,000 tonne/year I-4 No 1 cracker at the site.
