SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Sinopec Jinling Petrochemical plans to start up its new 8m tonne/year crude distillation unit (CDU) at Nanjing in Jiangsu province in early March, a company source said on Tuesday.

The new CDU’s two auxiliary units – a 3.5m tonne/year fluid catalytic cracker (FCC) and a 1.8m tonne/year residue hydrogenation unit – will come on stream in September, the source said.

Once the new CDU is brought on line, Jinling Petrochemical intends to permanently shut its 2.5m tonne/year CDU at the site, along with its 1m tonne/year FCC, and its 200,000 tonne/year gas fractionation unit, the company source said.

The company has three existing CDUs at Nanjing with a total refining capacity of 13.5m tonnes/year. Its other two CDUs have a 3m tonne/year and an 8m tonne/year capacities.

Jinling Petrochemical further plans to reduce the throughput at its existing 3m tonne/year CDU by a third to 2m tonnes/year, upon the start-up of the new 8m tonne/year unit in March, the source said.

Its existing 8m tonne/year is set for a 35-day scheduled turnaround in April-May, the source said.
