HOUSTON (ICIS)--Shell still expects to decide the site for a new cracker in the northeast US early this year, a company spokeswoman said on Wednesday.
In announcing the latest timeline, Shell spokeswoman Kayla Macke said the company had no new updates.“We expect to make the decision on the site selection in early 2012/Q1,” she said.
Shell is considering Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia as possible sites for its project.
The states have large reserves of natural gas, which could provide the cracker with natural gas liquids (NGL) for feedstock.
Earlier, Shell expected to make an announcement on the site in January. In mid January, the company said an announcement could come after the release of its fourth-quarter earnings on 2 February.
