Mitsubishi Chem on-track to restart Indonesia/India PTA units

SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Mitsubishi Chemical is on-track to restart its Indonesian and Indian purified terephthalic acid (PTA) units by 29 February, a company source said on Tuesday.
“The Merak plant will be restarted on 28 February while the Haldia plant will be restarted on 28-29 February,” the source said.
The force majeure (FM) on PTA supplies from the Merak plant will be lifted upon achieving stable production, he added.
Mitsubishi Chemical shut one of the two 330,000 tonne/year Merak PTA unit on 16 February because of mechanical woes and subsequently declared FM on February contracts.
The company shut its 800,000 tonne/year Haldia-based PTA unit on 7 January for a scheduled 4-week maintenance but subsequently delayed the restart of the unit because of a technical glitch.
Mitsubishi Chemical also operates a 480,000 tonne/year PTA unit in Haldia.
