SINGAPORE (ICIS)--PT Amoco Mitsui Indonesia (Ami) has restarted its 460,000 tonne/year Merak unit after about a 10-day outage, a company source said on Tuesday.

The unit was restarted over the weekend of 25-26 February and has since reached on-spec production, the source said in an email to ICIS.

PT Ami shut its PTA unit on 17 February because of mechanical issues and subsequently declared force majeure (FM) on PTA supplies.

The company source declined to comment on when PT Ami will lift the FM or when normal contract deliveries will be resumed.

PT AMI’s Merak plant is a joint venture between BP and Mitsui Chemicals.
