SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Japan's Mitsui Chemicals will shut its No 1 and No 2 bisphenol A (BPA) lines at Jurong Island in Singapore in April for annual maintenance, a company source said on Wednesday.

Mitsui Chemicals runs three BPA lines in Singapore with a combined capacity of 230,000 tonnes/year.

The No 1 line will be shut from 19 April to 16 May, while the No 2 line will be taken off line from 27 April to 25 May, the source said.

The company's No 3 line has been shut since late October and no restart date has been fixed because of poor economics, according to the source.

The No 3 line is not scheduled for a turnaround this year, the source added.
