SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Japan’s Asahi Glass Co (AGC) will shut its 350,000 dry metric tonne/year (dmt/year) caustic soda facility at Kashima in mid-May for a month-long turnaround, a source close to the company said on Wednesday.

The caustic soda unit at Kashima is currently operating at close to 100% of capacity, according to the source.

Meanwhile, AGC’s 200,000 dmt/year caustic soda plant at Chiba is currently undergoing maintenance.

The turnaround at the Chiba plant is expected to last until mid-March this year.
