Taiwan’s Nan Ya Plastics plans overhaul at Mailiao MEG plants in Q3

SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Taiwanese producer Nan Ya Plastics is planning to shut its four monoethylene glycol (MEG) units in Mailiao, with a combined capacity of 1.8m tonne/year, in the third quarter of 2012 for overhaul, a company source said on Friday.
The company will shut each plant for around 30 days, the source said without specifying the reason for the overhaul.
Nan Ya Plastics originally planned to conduct a month-long maintenance at its 720,000 tonne/year No 4 MEG plant in April, but has postponed it to the third quarter, the source said.
In addition, the producer will stagger the turnarounds at three of its 360,000 tonne/year MEG units at the same site in September-November, the source added.
Each plant will be shut for 40 to 70 days, according to the source.
