SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Shenyang Palmary New Material plans to start up its 80,000 tonne/year new expandable polystyrene (EPS) unit in Liaoning province in the middle of March, a company source said on Monday.

The EPS plant will mainly produce block flame retardant resins, the source added.

The company is constructing another plant with a capacity of 80,000 tonnes/year at the same site, but the source did not disclose the start-up date of the unit.

The company purchases styrene monomer (SM), a feedstock of EPS, mainly from PetroChina in northeast China, the source added.
