HOUSTON (ICIS)--Braskem America CEO Luiz de Mendonca will leave the company to head ETH Bioenergia, sources said on Monday.

ETH Bioenergia is a Brazilian ethanol producer controlled by Odebrecht.

Calls to ETH Bioenergia were referred to a spokeswoman at Odebrecht, who was not immediately available for comment.

Braskem America did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Mendonca will replace Jose Carlos Grubisich, who left ETH Bioenergia to become the president of Eldorado Celulose, a Brazilian cellulose producer.

Mendonca has served as Braskem America CEO for about a year. Braskem announced the appointment of Mendonca as CEO on 1 March 2011.

As head of Braskem America, Mendonca oversaw the company's newly acquired polypropylene (PP) business in the US.
