HOUSTON (ICIS)--US propylene inventories fell by nearly 8% last week despite a small increase in operating rates at US refineries, Energy Information Administration (EIA) figures showed on Wednesday.

Propylene inventories were at 4.363m bbl in the week that ended on 2 March, down from 4.732m bbl a week earlier, the government said.

Meanwhile, US refineries operated at 83.9% of capacity, up from 83.6% in the week that ended on 24 February, EIA's statistics showed.

Refinery-grade propylene (RGP) for April was offered on Wednesday at 71 cents/lb ($1,565/tonne, €1,189/tonne) with no bids. RGP traded last week at 68 and 69 cents/lb.

EIA figures refer to non-fuel refinery-sourced propylene.
