SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Shanghai Huayi Group is planning to start up its 200,000 tonne/year ethyl acetate (etac) plant at Wuwei in Anhui province in the second quarter, a company source said on Thursday.

“That is our plan at the moment, and we have not set an exact date [for the start-up],” said the source.

The company plans to start up an integrated 500,000 tonne/year acetic acid plant at the same site this month.

Shanghai Huayi Group operates a 200,000 tonne/year etac plant at Wujing in Shanghai under the company Shanghai Wujing Chemical. The company also operates two acetic acid lines that can produce 700,000 tonnes/year of acetic acid at the Wujing site.
