SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Zhongyuan Petrochemical, a subsidiary of Sinopec, will bring forward its maintenance schedule for its five plants at Henan province to the end of March because of shrinking margins, a company source said on Thursday.

The five facilities comprise a 180,000 tonne/year cracker and a 600,000 tonne/year methanol-to-olefins (MTO) plant, a 260,000 tonne/year linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE) plant, a 100,000 tonne/year polypropylene (PP) plant and a 60,000 tonne/year PP plant, the source said.

The shutdowns were originally scheduled for the end of April, he added.

The operating rates at the plants have been lowered to 60-70% capacity, he said, without saying what the rates were previously.
