China's Sanfangxiang Group to shut PSF line on 20 March

SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Jiangsu Sanfangxiang Group is planing to shut one of its 200,000 tonne/year polyester staple fibre (PSF) line at Jiangyin in Jiangsu province for maintenance on 20 March, a company source said on Friday.

The maintenance is expected to last for one month.

Sanfangxiang Group is currently running 12 PSF lines at full capacity, the source said.

The company initially had planned to shut the line in May but brought the turnaround forward because of weak demand, the source added.

Because of weak demand the sales ratio of PSF was about 40-70% since February and inventories had increased to 18-22 days now, according to Chemease, an ICIS service in China.

Jiangsu Sanfangxiang is the biggest private polyester producer in China with a total production capacity of 2.2m tonnes/year and makes products including PSF, polyethylene terephthalate (PET) chips and bottle chips.
