SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Hainan Refining & Chemical, a subsidiary of Sinopec, is planning to expand its refining capacity to 13m tonnes/year by building a 5m tonne/year crude distillation unit (CDU) at Yangpu in Hainan, a company source said on Friday.

The company currently runs an 8m tonne/year CDU at the same site.

“We are waiting for governmental approvals for the project at present,” the source said.

In addition, the company is planning to build a 1m tonne/year cracker as a downstream unit at the same site.
