Sinopec, PetroChina cut daily throughput by 3% in March

SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Sinopec and PetroChina plan to refine a total of 30.30m-30.40m tonnes of crude oil in March, with a combined daily throughput of about 977,000 tonnes, down 3% from February, company sources said on Monday.

The two firms are the China's biggest refiners.

Sinopec’s crude throughput target for March is 17.9m-18.0m tonnes, with its daily crude throughput falling by 2.98% to 579,000 tonnes this month from February, said a company source.

PetroChina is planning to process 12.30m-12.40m tonnes of crude this month, equivalent to a daily throughput of 398,000 tonnes, 3.04% less than the previous month, according to a company source.

Sinopec has 35 refineries with a combined capacity of 260m tonnes/year and PetroChina has 31 refineries with a total capacity of 180m tonnes/year, according to C1 Energy, an ICIS service in China.
