SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Zhenhai Refining & Chemical Co (ZRCC), a subsidiary of Sinopec, plans to shut down its 165,000 tonne/year butadiene (BD) unit at Ningbo in Zhejiang on 15 April for regular maintenance, a source close to the company said on Wednesday.

The shutdown will last for 30 days, the source said.

BD supply in China may tighten because of the shutdown, market sources said.

Spot BD prices have increased by around CNY5,500/tonne ($869/tonne) ex-tank early this year to CNY26,000/tonne on 14 March, according to Chemease, an ICIS service in China.
