China’s Fuxiang Chemical runs Fujian SBR plant at 90% capacity

SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Fuxiang Chemical has been running its 100,000 tonne/year styrene butadiene rubber (SBR) plant at Quanzhou in Fujian province at 90% capacity after raising production rates in early March, a company source said on Friday.

The plant, which has two 50,000 tonne/year lines, was being operated at 50-60% capacity in February because of a tight supply of feedstock butadiene (BD), the source said.

SBR prices in China were assessed at yuan (CNY) 23,700-24,300/tonne ($3,744-3,839/tonne) EXWH (ex-warehouse) east China on 15 March, according to Chemease, an ICIS service in China.

Feedstock BD prices were at CNY25,000-25,500/tonne EXWH east China, the Chemease data showed.
