HOUSTON (ICIS)--Propylene supply issues have caused Brazil's Unigel to shut its acrylonitrile (ACN) plant in Mexico through the end of March, company sources said on Friday.

The plant shut on Wednesday. The shutdown will allow Unigel to move up its 15-day scheduled maintenance turnaround, originally scheduled for May.

The plant, which has a capacity of 60,000 tonnes/year, will lose about 3,000 tonnes of production during the shutdown. The facility expects to resume operations on 1 April.
