HOUSTON (ICIS)--US acrylonitrile (ACN) spot prices were assessed wider for the week that ended on 16 March, as one producer sold a shipment at $2,125/tonne (€1,615/tonne).
The spot price range is now $2,125-2,280, wider than the $2,200-2,280/tonne range it was last week.
Demand from downstream users has been strong and production facilities are running all out, although inventories are thin.
Despite producers saying inventories are thin, buyers have said they have not had any problems in acquiring material..
Despite one facility being shut in Mexico for supply issues, there has been more capacity available this week than in recent weeks as maintenance and other issues have been resolved at two other facilities, sources said.
North American producers of ACN include Ascend Performance Materials, Cornerstone Chemical and INEOS Nitriles.
