LONDON (ICIS)--INEOS' polypropylene (PP) process has been chosen by coal chemical producer China Shenhua for a project in Yulin, China, the specialty chemicals producer said on Monday.

Switzerland-headquartered INEOS said the process will be used to manufacture polypropylene resins, including homopolymers, random copolymers and impact copolymers.

It added that the 300,000 tonne/year plant in Yulin City, Shaanxi province, will serve the rapidly growing Chinese PP market.

China Shenhua was the first company to commercialise the methanol to olefins (MTO) process and the new PP plant will be part of their second MTO complex, INEOS said.

"INEOS is very proud to be selected for this project in the growing Chinese coal chemical industry. We appreciate the very good relationship developed with China Shenhua Group and we look forward to further cooperation with China Shenhua as they expand their business in the coal chemical industry,” said INEOS Technologies CEO Peter Williams.
