Romania's AdePlast to start building second EPS unit in H2 2012

BUCHAREST (ICIS)--AdePlast expects to start building its second expandable polystyrene (EPS) unit in Roman, eastern Romania , in the second half of this year, the construction materials producer said on Monday.

"The new EPS unit will have a capacity of some 500,000 cubic metres/year [cbm/year] and it is part of a larger factory in Roman which also includes production of mortar and decorative coating. The whole investment in the new facilities will be around €10m", said Marcel Barbut, manager of AdePlast.

Barbut added: "Through the new production facility, the company aims to cover eastern part of Romania with lower costs, and also to serve customers in neighbouring Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova."

In September, AdePlast started production at a 700,000 cbm/year EPS unit in Ploiesti, southern Romania.

The company registered a turnover of Romanian New Lei 143m ($43m, €33m) last year, up by 12% compared to 2010.
