HOUSTON (ICIS)--The Renewable Fuels Association (RFA) said on Monday the industry is one step closer to implementing E15 gasoline for consumers at the pump with the recent approval of its Misfueling Mitigation Plan (MMP).
The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) last week approved the MMP for E15, which was submitted by the RFA earlier in the month.
The MMP is a guide meant to assist marketers in the blending, storage and dispensing of E15.
EPA approved E15 for use in vehicle models 2001 and newer in January 2011. Because the fuel is not approved for use in all vehicles or in small engines, the agency required that a number of conditions be met by retailers offering the fuel to prevent misuse of E15 by consumers.
