SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Shandong Hualu-Hengsheng Chemical is currently running its 80,000 tonne/year adipic acid (ADA) line at around 90% of capacity, a company source said on Wednesday.

The company started up the plant on 10 March, the source said.

“We could produce around 210 tonnes of [ADA] per day compared with the full capacity of 240 tonnes/day,” the source said.

The company, which is based at Dezhou in China’s eastern Shandong province, has another 80,000 tonne/year ADA line that is expected to start up in April, the source said.

ADA is mostly used to produce nylon 6,6 (polyamide 6,6) and polyurethanes (PU) that are used in shoe soles and polyester resins.
