SINGAPORE (ICIS) --China’s Super Chemical Corp plans to shut its 50,000 tonne/year acetone-based isopropanol (IPA) plant at Yancheng in Jiangsu province on 26 March because of shortage of feedstock hydrogen, a company source said on Friday.

The IPA facility will be down for about two weeks, in line with the shutdown of an upstream plant that provides it with  hydrogen, the source said without providing further details on the feedstock supplier.

Super Chemical has sufficient IPA inventory that will prevent disruption to spot sales and supply to contract customers during the shutdown period of the plant, the source.
