Argentina Feb chemical production up by 1.7% year on year

HOUSTON (ICIS)--Argentina’s February chemical production was up by 1.7% year on year, industry sources said on Friday.

Production of basic chemical products was up by 9.6% in February compared with the same month of the previous year, said Argentina’s Statistics Institute (INDEC). The institute does not provide tonnage figures for production.

Production of industrial gases was up in February by 1.3% year on year, the group said.

Production of plastic raw materials and synthetic rubber was down by 2.5% in February compared with the same month of 2011.

Agrochemicals production was down by 5.8% in February, while production of pharmaceutical products was up by 3.6% year on year.

Production of detergents, soaps and personal products rose in February by 8.7% compared with the same month of 2011.

Meanwhile, combined plastic products and rubber tyres production rose by 0.1% in February year on year. Rubber tyre production increased by 6.9%, while February production of plastic products was down by 0.9% year on year, INDEC said.
