China February toluene imports up 44.9% on strong demand

SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s toluene imports in February surged by 44.9% year on year on the back of strong demand amid bullish market sentiment, traders said on Monday.

Traders built up stocks actively in the light of good outlook, importers said.

China imported 70,420 tonnes of toluene during February, up by 44.9% year on year, with an average import price of $1,133/tonne (€850/tonne), according to data from China Customs.

About 67.9% of toluene cargoes arrived in Nanjing, 22.5% reached Huangpu, 4.1% went to Shanghai, 2.8% arrived in Xiamen and 2.7% were destined to Guangzhou, the data showed.
