SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Zhanjiang Dongxing Refinery, a subsidiary of Sinopec, plans to shut down its aromatics unit at Zhanjiang in Guangdong province of south China on 10 April for maintenance, a company source said on Wednesday.

"The maintenance will last for 50 days," the source said.

The plant has not been running smoothly due to some technical issues with production rate down to 40% from its normal 60%, the soucre added.

The aromatics unit can produce 55,000 tonnes/year of benzene and 180,000 tonnes/year of isomer-grade xylene (IX), according to the source.

Key aromatic producers in south China include Zhanjiang Dongxing Refinery, CNOOC Oil & Petrochemicals Co., Ltd, Maoming Petrochemical and Fujian Refining & Petrochemical Company.
