HOUSTON (ICIS)--The US April methanol contract rolled over on Wednesday as Methanex posted 134 cents/gal, the same as its March posting.
Southern Chemical (SCC) earlier this week posted 133 cents/gal for April, also a repeat of its March number.
Methanol sources expected a rollover, based on no major supply disruptions.
Last week, sources said Trinidad’s M5000 methanol plant at Point Lisas would close for about three weeks in early April. The turnaround was not expected to have a big impact on the global methanol market because alternative supply arrangements were in place, sources said.
The current spot price for US methanol is 114.00–114.50 cents/gal, according to market sources.
