US Feb production of plastic resins rises 11.9% year on year

HOUSTON (ICIS)--US production of major plastic resins in February 2012 increased 11.9% year on year, to 6.2bn lb (2.8bn kg), an industry trade group said on Thursday.

Sales and captive use of major plastic resins also totalled 6.2bn lb during February, reflecting an increase of 7.0% from the same month a year earlier, t
he American Chemistry Council (ACC) said in a data release.

For the first two months of 2012, US production of major plastic resins rose 7.4% year on year to 12.7bn lb.

Meanwhile, sales and captive use from 1 January to 29 February stood at 12.6bn lb, up 7.7% from the same period in 2011, the ACC said.
