SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Taiwan’s Formosa Chemicals & Fibre Corp (FCFC) plans to start up a 150,000 tonne/year styrene acrylonitrile (SAN) plant at Ningbo in China’s Zhejiang province in June, a company source said on Thursday.
The company originally planned to bring the plant on stream at the beginning of this year, but delayed it because of bearish market fundamentals, the source said.
Half of the SAN output will be for captive use to provide feedstock for its 300,000 tonne/year acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS) plant at the same site, the source added.
The other half will be sold on the spot market in China, the source added.
