SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Japan’s Mitsui Chemicals plans to run its 40,000 tonne/year melamine plant in Osaka at 60-70% of capacity on poor market conditions, a company source said on Friday.

The company plans to maintain these operating rates because of high feedstock costs and lacklustre demand from end-users, the source said.

“In addition, there is tough competition from European and Chinese producers,” the source added.
