Malaysia’s PETRONAS to shut one of its Labaun methanol unit in April

SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Malaysia’a state-owned PETRONAS will shut its PETRONAS Methanol Labuan (PML) 2 unit, which have a capacity of 1.7m tonne/year in April, a source from PETRONAS Chemicals Group (PCG) said on Friday.

“The PML 2 will remain shut up to the end of May,” the source said.

In addition, PML 1, with a capacity of 660,000 tonne/year will remain operational during this period, the source added.

Other methanol producers in the region include Indonesia’s Kaltim Methanol Industri (KMI) and Brunei Methanol Company (BMC).
