SINGAPORE (ICIS)--The Gulf Petrochemicals and Chemicals Association (GPCA) has retained Mohamed al-Mady as its chairman, the trade group based in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) said on Sunday.

Al-Mady is also the vice chairman and CEO of Saudi Arabia’s chemicals major SABIC.

The decision to retain Al-Mady was made after the election of the association's new board of directors, which took place at the fifth GPCA's annual general meeting in Dubai, UAE, on 15 March 2012, GPCA said.

Saud Rashed Al Shamsi, the petrochemicals director at UAE’s Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (Adnoc), was elected vice chairman of the GPCA, the trade association said.

Saudi Aramco’s vice president Abdulaziz Judaim and Musab al-Mahrouqi, CEO of ORPIC from Oman, were elected as new board members, it added.
