OCI Nitrogen's parent company and the facility’s owner, Egypt-based Orascom Construction Industries, said earlier this year that ammonia production at the plant will reach 250,000 tonnes/year and methanol 750,000 tonnes/year.

In May 2011, a group that included backers from Texas, Europe and Egypt bought the mothballed plant from Eastman Chemical, saying they would they would spend $65m (€49m) in acquisition and startup costs. Eastman documents show that the company received $15m (€11m) for the plant.
In November, Orascom Construction Industries said it had acquired full ownership of the plant.Hosted by the American Fuel & Petrochemical Manufacturers (AFPM), the IPC continues through Tuesday.
