SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Chongqing Fuling Pengwei Petrochemical on 1 April this year shut its 900,000 tonne/year purified terephthalic acid (PTA) plant at Chongqing City for 15 days because of unfavourable market conditions, a company source said on Friday.

The company suffers from higher production costs as compared to its counterparts in China because its plant is located further inland, the source said.

It also incurs higher transportation costs as the plant is located away from the polyester production hub in eastern China, the source added.

Chongqing Fuling Pengwei Petrochemical is a subsidiary of East Hope Group.
