SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s oxo-alcohols producer Shandong Lihuayi shut its 140,000 tonne/year 2-ethylhexanol (2-EH) plant in Shandong province on 5 April because of a fault in the unit, a company source said on Friday.

The turnaround may last around five to seven days, the source added.

The shutdown will tighten 2-EH supply in the domestic market as the company is a key 2-EH producer in China, a market player said.

The shutdown is also likely to cause 2-EH prices to rise in the short term, he added.
