SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s Tianjin Dagu Chemical Co shut down its 500,000 tonne/year styrene monomer(SM) plant on 2 April for a 30-day maintenance period, a company source said on Friday.

The company had planned to start the turnaround on 10 April but the schedule was advanced to 2 April, the source added.

Ample availability and lacklustre demand from the downstream expandable polystyrene and polystyrene sectors were exerting downward pressure on spot SM prices in north China, some domestic traders said.
