SINGAPORE (ICIS)--South Korean aromatics producer Honam Petrochemical has restarted its Yeosu-based plant producing benzene, toluene and solvent xylene (BTX) following a scheduled maintenance shutdown, a company source said on Monday.

The facility, which can produce 180,000 tonnes/year of benzene, 84,000 tonnes/year of toluene and 60,000 tonnes/year of solvent xylene, resumed operations on 8 April after being taken off line on 1 March, the source added.

The unit is operating at about 30% capacity, but is expected to reach 100% capacity in the next two days or so, he said.

Other key benzene producers in South Korea include SK Global Chemical and GS Caltex.
