TOKYO (ICIS)--Japan’s domestic shipments of polystyrene paper (PSP), or foamed polystyrene sheets, rose by 16% to 8,780 tonnes in March from the previous month, official data from an industry association showed late on Monday.
This reflected higher shipments for most applications including roll trays, general purpose and laminated bowls, according to the statistics from the Japan Polystyrene Foamed Sheet Industry Association (JASFA).
Compared with the same period a year earlier, Japan’s total domestic shipments of PSP rose by 6.2% in March, the data showed.
PSP is primarily used for packaging food products such as fresh seafood and meat, as well as bowls for instant noodles.
