CAMPINAS, Brazil (ICIS)--The 2012-2013 Brazilian sugarcane harvest should increase by 5% year on year, the National Supply Company (Conab), a government agency connected to the Agriculture Ministry, said on Tuesday.

Conab estimates the crop will grow to 602m tonnes from 571m tonnes in 2011-2012.

The total production of ethanol should also increase, Conab said, to 23.96bn litres from 22.86bn litres in the 2011-2012 harvest season.

Anhydrous ethanol will bolster total ethanol production, growing 7.44% in the 2012-2013 season.
