SINGAPORE (ICIS)--China’s two largest refiners, Sinopec and PetroChina, plan to refine a total of 28.7m-28.8m tonnes of crude in April, or about 958,000 tonnes/ day, the lowest since October 2011, the companies’ sources said on Wednesday.

Sinopec’s crude throughput target in April is 17.7m-17.8m tonnes, or 592,000 tonnes/day, up by 1.81% from March, a company source said.

PetroChina plans to process 11.0m-11.1m tonnes of crude in April, or 368,000 tonnes/day, 8.09% less than in March, according to a company source.

Around 27m tonnes/year of PetroChina’s refining capacity will be affected by turnarounds in April, which explains the decrease in its crude throughput, said the source.

Sinopec has 35 refineries with a combined capacity of 260m tonnes/year and PetroChina has 31 refineries with a total capacity of 180m tonnes/year, according to C1 Energy, an ICIS service in China.
