Thailand’s PTTGC runs aromatics unit at close to full rates

SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Thailand’s PTT Global Chemical (PTTGC) is running its Map Ta Phut-based aromatics unit at close to 100% of capacity after restarting it in early April following a month-long turnaround, a company source said on Thursday.

The source did not give a date for the restart.

Operating rates of the unit are around 90% for paraxylene (PX) and 95-100% for benzene, and the unit has a nameplate capacity of 616,000 tonnes/year of PX and 360,000 tonnes/year of benzene, said the source.

PTTGC operates another aromatics unit at the same site with a nameplate capacity to produce about 460,000 tonnes/year of benzene, 560,000 tonnes/year of PX and 66,000 tonnes/year of orthoxylene (OX).
