US February ABS imports up 15% year on year

HOUSTON (ICIS)--US acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) imports for February were up by 15% from the same month a year ago, according to data released by the US International Trade Commission (ITC) on Friday.

Imports increased to 12,929 tonnes from 11,213 tonnes in February 2011.

US ABS exports in February fell slightly to 7,592 tonnes from 7,986 tonnes in February last year, the ITC said.

Top destinations for US ABS were Mexico, Canada and China.

Imports came primarily from Mexico, Korea and Taiwan.

US producers of ABS include INEOS ABS, Network Polymers, SABIC Innovative Plastics and Styron LLC.
