HOUSTON (ICIS)--US vinyl acetate monomer (VAM) exports rose by more than 6% in February year on year on increased shipments to Mexico, according to data released on Friday by the US International Trade Commission (ITC).
VAM exports totalled 36,252 tonnes in February, compared with 34,106 tonnes in the same month of 2011.
Shipments to Mexico more than doubled to 8,118 tonnes, compared with 3,702 tonnes in February 2011.
Mexico, Belgium and Canada continued as the top three export destinations, receiving a total of 20,446 tonnes or 56% of all VAM exports.
Major US VAM sellers include Celanese, Dow Chemical, DuPont and LyondellBasell.
