HOUSTON (ICIS)--US butyl acetate (butac) exports in February rose by 20% year on year to 4,372 tonnes from 3,655 tonnes in the same month of 2011, according to data released on Friday by the US International Trade Commission (ITC).
Nearly all of the increase came on butac shipments to India totalling 700 tonnes, compared with none in the same month of 2011.
India ranked second among the four largest butac destinations, with Mexico first, Peru third and Brazil fourth. The four countries received a total of 3,352 tonnes or 77% of all exports, compared with 2,251 or about 62% of all exports in February 2011.
Major US butac producers include Dow Chemical, Eastman Chemical and Oxea Group.
