Taiwan’s Formosa BP runs Mailiao acetic acid plant at around 50%

SINGAPORE (ICIS)--Formosa BP Chemicals Corp (FBPC) is currently operating its 300,000 tonne/year acetic acid plant in Mailiao, Taiwan, at around 50% of capacity, a company official said on Monday.

The plant resumed operations in the latter half of last week following a month-long turnaround, the source said.

“The plant is operating at around 50% of capacity,” he said, adding that there has been no shortage of spot acetic acid material in Taiwan.

Major acetic acid producers in Asia include US-based Celanese, UK’s BP, China’s Jiangsu Sopo, Shanghai Wujing, Yankuang Cathay Coal Chemicals, Henan ShunDa Chemical and Hebei Chung Shun Chemical, Taiwan’s Chang Chun Petrochemicals and CPDC, India’s GNFC and Iran’s Fanavaran Petrochemical.
