The plant, which can produce 240,000 tonnes/year of benzene and 700,000 tonnes/year of paraxylene (PX), will be down for five to seven days of maintenance, the source said.
Qingdao Lidong may run the plant at reduced rates when the unit restarts, the source said without elaborating.
The company will continue to supply contracted volumes to downstream customers from existing inventories, said the source.
However, Qingdao Lidong will reduce its spot export volumes of benzene by around 3,000 tonnes, and of PX by around 10,000 tonnes in May because of the turnaround, the company source added.
Qingdao Lidong supplies PX to downstream purified terephthalic acid (PTA) makers such as Zhejiang Yisheng Petrochemicals, Shaoxing Yuandong Petrochemicals and Xiamen Xianglu Petrochemicals.
The company also sells around 10,000-15,000 tonnes of spot PX on a monthly basis.
