US Jacobs wins work for SABIC olefins upgrade in the Netherlands

LONDON (ICIS)--Jacobs has been awarded a contract to upgrade SABIC’s Olefins 4 cracker at Geleen in the Netherlands, the US-based petrochemicals engineering firm said on Tuesday.

Jacobs said the work would involve modifications to SABIC’s Olefins 4 naphtha cracker to improve energy efficiency and to further increase the plant's ethylene production capacity.

Jacobs expects to complete the work next year as part of a scheduled plant turnaround, it added.

Capacity and financial details were not disclosed.

According to ICIS, SABIC’s Olefins 4 cracker at Geleen has a reported nameplate capacity of 675,000 tonnes/year of ethylene.
